Our Mission

"Over the years I have spoken to so many people who built a new home or remodeled an older home thinking they didn't need to "waste money" on a designer. All to realize that making design decisions became their new full time job.

Worse, so often people would realize that without a full service designer, lights got hung where the electrician thought was best (which was not where they thought they should be).

Or plumbing wouldn't get run where it needed to be run because the home owner didn't know they had to tell someone they wanted a wall mount faucet.

These can be costly mistakes. And they can usually be avoided by hiring a designer" - Ashly â€‹

Our Mission is to prevent things like this from happening. We want your new build or renovation to go smooth. We want you to rest in our experience.

We create floor plans, elevations and design spec packets that are comprehensive to all the trades. We are here for you. We understand functionality and beauty and will try our hardest to give you both.

About Me.

Ashly - Founder - ALD Co.

I've always wanted to be a designer, for as far back as I can remember.  The short story is; My senior project was designing my parent's dinning room. I then went to the Art Institute of York for Interior Design. I graduated, and for over 15 years I worked at Olde Mill Cabinetry as a cabinet designer. My jobs would include; the design and lay out of any room that gets cabinets, like kitchens, and bathrooms, offices, living rooms, wet bars, libraries, any room really. I would design them to be functional and offer help with cabinetry style selections. Over those 15 plus years I have gained experience drawing floor plans, elevations and 3D renderings, communicating with the trades such as electricians and plumbers and builders, along with developing or honing my eye for good, functional design and aesthetic.

Over that time I have worked with many designers, some good, some bad, I've also seen too many new homes go up without the help of an interior designer. I've seen the good, and a lot of the bad. I've seen the costly mistakes that I knew could have been prevented. I'd be surprised by the things some designers didn't do, or be shocked at the amount the DIY home owner turned general contractor turn design didn't know they needed to know until it was too late. That's what made me want to go out on my own and pursue my original life long dream of being an interior designer. I was tired of seeing the chaos and I want to help. I have seen and learned so much, never being too far from the industry, I have years of experience to offer. The first step though is creating an awareness. So part of my mission is to spread awareness to consumers on how much money hiring a designer actually can save. It costs money upfront, but they bring to the table knowledge and experience, two things that are considered to be invaluable.

Life Experience

New Construction and Remodels

It started in 2007, after our engagement, my future husband Dan and I completely gutted and remodeled our first home, that we ended up selling. So we purchased our second home, remodeled it while living there and then moved to a 300 year old farm home that we also  remodeled extensively while living in it. We also remodeled a few vacation homes, then started some new construction projects.... The short story is, together, my husband as the contractor and handy man, I as the designer and assistant, have remodeled and built over 25 projects in the past 17 years. Now that will definitely give you some real life experience.
